Booking with Daytrip: Quick and Painless
Booking with Daytrip was a breeze! Seriously, it only took a few minutes, which is perfect when you’ve got kids running around while you’re trying to plan a trip. I personally used the app although the website found here is quite popular as well.
One thing that really impressed me was how they automatically selected the correct car seats based on my kids’ ages. This might seem like a small detail, but for a mum who’s tired of lugging giant car seats on a trip, this was a HUGE win.
Plus, good quality car seats can be hard to find when you’re traveling internationally, so knowing that Daytrip had us covered was such a relief. The carseats that showed up with our driver were clean, safe and appeared quite new.
Breaking Up the Journey: Fun Stops
One of the coolest things about Daytrip is that you can choose sightseeing stops along the way. This was a total lifesaver for us!
Long drives with kids can be challenging, but breaking up the journey with interesting stops made the drive so much more enjoyable.
Whether it was a scenic viewpoint or a quirky local attraction, these little breaks kept the kids entertained and gave us all a chance to stretch our legs.
We travelled between the highlands and the east coast of Sri Lanka. There were a number of temples and waterfalls to discover which were available to add onto to our journey.

Local Drivers with Insider Knowledge
Now, let’s talk about the drivers. Our Daytrip driver in Sri Lanka was awesome. He spoke great English and had tons of local knowledge to share.
We got to see things we would’ve totally missed on our own. Case in point: he spotted a wild elephant walking along the road and slowed down so we could all get a good look.
That’s the kind of stuff you can’t plan for, but it made our trip so much more memorable.
Safety is always my top priority when traveling with the kids, and I felt really secure knowing that Daytrip drivers are all vetted.
The van was modern, clean, and super comfy.They offer bigger vehicles for larger families, which meant everyone had plenty of room.

One of the best parts about Daytrip is the door-to-door service. No more dealing with multiple transfers or figuring out how to get from point A to point B.
We were picked up right from our hotel and dropped off at our next destination, hassle-free. This is especially great for those longer drives where local transport might not cut it in terms of comfort or convenience.
While you can totally book a driver for your entire vacation, Daytrip is a cost-effective option if you just want to use it for those longer, trickier journeys and stick with local transport for shorter trips. It’s a great way to save some money without sacrificing comfort.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind From My Daytrip Review
It is best to book with Daytrip with at least 36 hours’ notice. They will try to look for a driver with up to 24 hours’ notice, so ideally, it’s best to be prepared.
If you’re more of a last-minute planner, you’ll need to get in touch with them directly to confirm your trip, which might add a bit of extra coordination.
Also, while Daytrip offers curated routes with cool sightseeing stops, the fee does not include third-party activities like guided tours or entrance fees.
You’ll need to check those out separately. But honestly, the value of having a local driver who knows the area is worth it!

So, would I recommend Daytrip for families? Absolutely! It’s a safe, comfortable, and super convenient way to travel between cities, and it takes so much of the stress out of family travel.
