Family Holidays in EnglandKaren2019-09-23T07:21:56+00:00
Living in London for such a long time has given me a chance to explore all the great family holidays in England. While we love to visit far away destinations, England is filled with fantastic family weekend getaways and fun family holidays.
You could spend weeks exploring London alone with amazing family friendly afternoon tea, visits to museums, watching a puppet show with views of the whole city in the London eye and much more! For a fantastic family day out you can also pay a visit to the recently renovated Kew Gardens, or for the Harry Potter enthusiasts, book a Black Cab Harry Potter tour.
If you are ready to venture further out for your England family holidays, there are plenty of options, from exploring castles and adventure parks in Yorkshire, to relaxing in the Cotswolds, to exploring the beautiful coast in Dover.

I have lived in London for 16 years now and The Cotswolds was one of those places that was always high on my list of places to visit. Typically, I hadn’t got around to it until recently, and, wow, there are so many things to do in The Cotswolds with kids! With stunning preserved medieval […]
Ad – It’s that time of year again when the weather is changing, the days are getting shorter and we are looking for things to do with the kids over the Halloween period. We love the Halloween festivities, from getting dressed up as our favourite villain, to watching scary movies, what’s not to love? Whilst […]
I have lived in London for more than 16 years now. The historical architecture, incredible restaurants, twinkling skyline, trendy neighbourhoods, the list of amazing things to do in London is enough to fill a lifetime! Add kids to the equation, and it again, brings a whole different perspective to this incredible city. As a family […]
I am a complete zipping fanatic, whenever we go on a trip, it’s something we always love to find and try out. From Singapore to Ecuador and everywhere in between, it’s one of our favourite activities. Northern Wales is well known as the adventure capital of the UK and that’s thanks to the amazing Zipworld […]
We were invited to Castle Howard to celebrate the opening of their all new Skelf Island! Based just 30 minutes from York City, this incredible privately owned estate attracts many tourist and local families alike. The space of 900 acres boasts views of rolling hills, historical architectural wonders, and some fantastic manicured landscapes. It’s the […]
Visiting Kew Gardens with kids is one of our favourite family days out in London. We especially love the Kew Gardens playground. Nestled right beside Richmond Upon Thames it’s one of the most beautiful parts of the city. With it’s serene garden environment, beautiful flowers, tall trees and glasshouse buildings – there is something for […]
Community post by Jane ~ Afternoon tea in London is a quintessentially a British experience. Tasty sandwiches, jam and cream scones and plenty of beautiful pastries, everyone should experience afternoon tea in London. Until recently, this wasn’t necessarily an activity you would choose to do with kids. However, The Savoy Hotel have partnered up with […]
The Bank of England museum is a fantastic place to schedule your next day trip around. It’s convenient location near many of London’s great attractions you can have a full day of fun without worrying about the massive lines that accompany some of the better known museums. Here’s how we like to spend the day […]
As London attractions go, it’s pretty iconic. Up there with Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament with all their history, the London Eye is one of the most notable features of the London skyline. Soaring over all the nearby buildings, the 360 degree views from the London Eye has made it one of […]
The London Transport Museum in Covent Garden was hands-down one of my daughters’ favorite places we visited in London! They had a blast exploring all the interactive exhibits at this wonderful museum. We practically had to drag them out of the door when it was time to leave. And this museum isn’t just for kids: […]
Most Harry Potter fans visiting London take a day out of their London itinerary to head out to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour to visit the sets, see the costumes, and learn about the props, special effects used in making the Harry Potter movies! But did you know that you can also take a tour […]
The Natural History Museum is a treasure trove of delights where history never gets old…or boring! The free admission museum (a voluntary contribution is welcomed) is a real London highlight so can get a little hectic at peak times. The quietest time to visit is term time midweek, despite school trips. If visiting during weekends or […]
In a world of Instagram filters and perfectly curated images in beautiful locations, social media can make some parents feel pressured to spend a lot of money. That’s what a recent study carried out by Groupon UK found. I have to admit, when I read this information, I immediately wondered if I create that feeling […]
Every parents dreaded nightmare about going on holiday is getting there. The packing, organising and getting through the airport can be stressful at the best of times. I don’t know about you, but even as a seasoned traveller, I still feel flustered since having children when going through the airport. They take so much extra […]
The sailing world is like a whole new unexplored experience for us. Although hubby has been brought up around boats in New Zealand, neither of us have done much sailing. Every marina around the world is full of boats. The industry is so big, but also quite isolated in terms of travel. I guess it goes […]
I’ve lived in London for fifteen years now. I feel so old when I say that. One of the main reasons for choosing London as my home is because of its great connections to explore Europe and beyond. I always jump to booking a trip abroad and rarely look at destinations closer to home. It […]
Community post by Jane ~ Bailiffscourt Hotel and Spa Review – Bailiffscourt is a family friendly haven located less than an hour away from London’s Gatwick Airport on the West Sussex coast. The hotel is a collection of medieval style buildings housing 39 luxury bedrooms situated in stunning grounds, right on the Sussex coast. We […]
The Cotswolds aren’t necessarily the first place which spring to mind when thinking about a holiday or weekend away when you have kids. The quintessential English villages, long walks and cozy pubs don’t tend to be the most child friendly option. However, after my most recent stay with my husband and almost 2 year old, […]
Heading away for a weekend break for the first time with a new baby takes some careful consideration. It had to be comfortable, family friendly, with perhaps something new and different for us to see. The Manor Country House Hotel was the perfect answer for our autumn weekend break. Located in the countryside, just fifteen minutes from […]
We decided to ease ourselves back into the travel scene after the arrival of baby Quinn just three weeks ago. Given it was Travel Mad Dad’s birthday, we wanted to do something special but easy on us sleep deprived parents. Spending a night in a family friendly hotel, not too far from home, seemed like […]
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with London having been here on and off for the last thirteen years. I detest the colder months and generally crave warmer climates. The days are short with it getting dark at around 4pm. However despite all of my qualms with London, there is something so […]
In honesty, I haven’t been that into Halloween since I left Ireland thirteen years ago. Halloween in Ireland is a celebration that is absolutely huge there, just as big as the U.S. I never felt the same level of hype around it here in the U.K, but it seems to be changing or maybe that’s […]
